Show Notes

Reggie Sanders played in the Major Leagues for 17 years, spending time with eight teams along the way, finishing in 2006 and ‘07 with the Royals. Those dates are important, and we’ll get into that during this episode.

Sanders had a career year in 1995 with the Cincinnati Reds, when he finished with a .305 batting average with 148 hits, including 33 home runs, and 99 RBIs. He was selected for the All-Star team that year, went to the postseason six times, including the World Series three times: in 2001 with Arizona against the Yankees, in 2002 with San Francisco against Anaheim, and in 2004 with St. Louis against the Red Sox.

Today he’s a special assistant with the Royals, working on leadership development alongside Matt Marasco, Willie Aikens and Mike Sweeney.

We recorded this interview in early December as a C-10 session on Zoom with our students and mentors. It happened to be on Reggie's 54th birthday. You may hear that referenced during the chat, as well as our Pregame Batting Practice, what he'd tell 17-year-old Reggie, and much more.
